WATCH THIS FILM!!!

I just got back from seeing the premiere of Michael Franti (of Spearhead)'s documentary of his experiences in Iraq, Israel & Palestine. This is, I kid you not, one of THE most important films and you really really really need to see it. It's tender and real and loving and painful and hopeful. franti said that they just finished the film yesterday, so I don't know when it will make it out, but check the website (click on this post's title), where it will be sold beginning in november.

I also like your spot and appreciate that you have a passion for our world...as does Michael Franti. But no one person is right all the time and sometimes I like to get imformed info not just passionate info. Michael is a musician and his views are pretty one sided. If you have ever been in an argument with someone, you know that usually both sides have a point and they only come together on common ground...I replied to your Sept 7 post because it got me a little upset but it did make me think. Is it really wise to get our info from musicians and actors who really are only as informed as the people feeding them information from the sources they trust. Research isn't done that way so why would we trust one sided information. Plus, if Sean Penn was so smart would he have made some of the movies that he made (Shanghai Surprise, We're No Angels, Cruise Control, etc.). Make sure you know what facts are facts because sometimes the source of some information has alterior motives...like spreading dissent amongst us regular folks.

gadlfy is a bit strange (and quite prone to criticism) but he does make a valid point about objectivity. of course every film, every newscast, article, conversation is biased -- human can't ever be objective.

I always think it wierd, though, when folks expect everyone who isn't a "mainstream journalist" to be balanced & present all sides, when those in the mainstream rarely do. if Article Mainstream Media A is 95% biased *towards* war, why should Article Progressive Media B be 50/50? Can't it be 95% *against* war? wouldn't they then balance EACH OTHER out?
